Welcome to the official web site of North Seattle Lacrosse. Our mission is to inspire youth, regardless of race, color, or creed to participate in a vigorous and entertaining sport; to teach the fundamentals of the game while employing the element of safety and intelligent supervision; to instill the concept of teamwork, fair play and fellowship, as well as sportsmanship, in defeat as well as victory.

Returning players from our 2008 spring season have the first opportunity to register, beginning October 18th, 2008 through November 9th. New players who joined us for the summer season will be allowed to register from October 25th through November 9th. Open registration for new players will begin on November 10th, and run through November 30th. if you are new and want to be added to our mailing list click here - add me to your mailing list. DEADLINES: RETURNING PLAYERS – November 9, 2008 / NEW PLAYERS – November 30, 2008

Returning players will be given first preference in the registration process. Depending upon space availability, registration will be open for new players on a first come – first served basis.

* A US Lacrosse membership number will be required to complete registration. Memberships are available at www.uslacrosse.org/membership/index.phtml. Registrations will not be considered complete without confirmation of membership - NO exceptions.

NEW: Each team (3/4, 5/6 and 7/8) will be required to have at least one parent referee to add to the WALOA pool of referees for the 2009 season. The parent will be trained and paid by WALOA. You will never referee a game that your own child plays in, nor will you be asked to referee every weekend. Most likely it will be two to three games out of the season. There will always be a head referee at each game, as well. If interested, please contact Susie Petersen at psufan56@comcast.net.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Practices start in February, with games beginning the first Saturday of March. The season ends the last Saturday of May, with a Regional Jamboree on June 6th. There will be no game scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend. There will be a total of 10 games and two bye weeks. More specific information will become available once the schedules have been determined in January.

Our practice field is the Magnuson Park Sports Fields off of Sand Point Way in North Seattle. We play a variety of teams from as far north as Whatcom County and as far south as Pierce County; from Issaquah to Vashon Island. The majority of the games, however, are from within our designated region.

No prior experience is necessary. However, we have very little “loaner equipment”, so we do ask that you provide your player with the following equipment:

  • helmet (white is preferable)
  • shoulder pads
  • elbow pads
  • gloves
  • athletic protector cup
  • lacrosse stick (Long poles are currently allowed only for the 5/6 and 7/8 grades) (Minimum stick length is dependent on grade level)

Equipment is available online or at the following local stores (although selections may be somewhat limited at some stores): Breakaway Sports (Bellevue and downtown Seattle), Joe’s (formerly GI Joe’s); 3 GI Sports (Ballard). You may also want to look for used equipment to help keep costs down.

Because of the limited space available on our teams, and the large number of players who are turned away every season, players are expected to make a full commitment to attending all practices and games. Players who do not have the ability to make this level of commitment will be asked to forfeit their roster space for use by another player willing to make the commitment to the program.
